Terms of service
Use Starhold Render to render pages and content you have the right to render. Do not abuse it. We may stop a key that is abused and refund the unused time. We never charge more than your plan or upgrade you without a click. The service comes without warranty.
1. What this is
Starhold Render turns HTML, templates or public web pages into images and PDFs through an HTTP API. It is provided by Copper Jerky LLC, an Arizona limited liability company doing business as Starhold Software ("we", "us"). These terms add to Starhold Software's general terms for its products.
2. Render only what you may
- Render only content you own or have the right to render.
- Do not render pages behind a login, a paywall or a CAPTCHA, and do not get around a site's access controls.
- Do not scrape sites at volume.
- Do not use the service for phishing, malware, child sexual abuse material or anything unlawful.
- Do not try to reach private networks or our own systems through the service. Those requests are refused.
The acceptable use page says more. A site owner can ask us to stop fetching their domain; see the bot page.
3. Accounts and keys
You sign in with an email link. Keep your API key and signing secret private. You are responsible for what is rendered with them. You can rotate either on your dashboard.
4. Plans and billing
- Each plan is a monthly allowance of renders, counted per UTC calendar month. It is not a credit and does not expire or roll over.
- At the limit, renders stop with an error. We never bill beyond your plan and never upgrade you automatically.
- Payments are handled by Polar, our merchant of record. Their terms govern the payment itself.
- You can cancel in one click on your dashboard. The plan ends at once and we refund the unused part of the period pro rata.
5. Suspension
We may suspend a key or an account that breaks these terms. If we do, we refund the unused time pro rata, unless the abuse was fraud. We will say why when we can.
6. No warranty
The service is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. We do not promise that output is accurate or complete, that a page will render the same way twice, or that the service will always be available.
7. Limit of liability
To the maximum extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits or revenue. Our total liability for all claims about the service will not exceed the greater of what you paid us in the twelve months before the event, or one hundred U.S. dollars ($100). Some places do not allow some of these limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
8. Changes
We may change these terms. We will change the date below. Using the service after a change means you accept it.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes go to the state or federal courts in Maricopa County, Arizona.
